With more than 30 years' senior-level experience within the property industry, I have developed a strong understanding of what makes businesses successful — and, more importantly, the people who make them successful.

Throughout my career, I have been responsible for building teams, recruiting senior professionals and making decisions about who is right for a role, the business and its long-term ambitions.

Over that time, I have interviewed hundreds of candidates, but ultimately employed fewer than 10%. That level of selectivity has taught me that finding the right person is about far more than matching experience to a job description. It is about understanding the business, its culture, its ambitions and the qualities that will make someone successful within it.

WHY I CREATED PROPERTY PEOPLE PARTNERS

My own experience as a senior decision-maker is one of the reasons I created Property People Partners.

I have not used recruitment firms for many years because I often found that they didn't fully understand what I was looking for. Too often, I was presented with a large number of CVs and expected to work my way through them. The problem is that a CV — even with a covering letter — can only tell you so much about a person.

I identified them, approached them and made the connection myself.

That experience has shaped the way Property People Partners operates.

A SELECTIVE APPROACH

I don't believe in taking every vacancy that comes through the door. I will only work on assignments where I believe I can genuinely add value and where I understand what the business is looking for. Once I understand the brief, I don't simply search a database and send over a selection of CVs. I carefully identify the people I believe could be right. That may include approaching experienced professionals who aren't actively looking for a new role. I am selective about who I approach because I want every conversation to have a genuine purpose.

The aim isn't to find lots of candidates. It's to find the right one.

This is a personal, targeted approach built on more than 30 years of experience within the property sector. I don't want to simply fill a vacancy.

I want to understand what your business needs and identify the person who can make a real difference.
